February 2023, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, which killed tens of thousands of people and flattened wide areas of cities. As of Feb. 24, the death toll in Turkey was more than 43,000 people. Hundreds and thousands of families and children were rendered homeless and needed shelter. Bay Area Turkish community organized to send Tents and temporary shelter equipment to protect people from the cold. Prothoma joined hands with local Turkish friends and joined in their effort to help the earthquake-devastated people in Turkey.
March 2023, our PROTHOMA family (Prothoma – NorCal Bengali Association) came together to help the earthquake survivors in Turkey in their time of crisis. We had an overwhelming response from our PROTHOMA family who came forward and provided tents, sleeping bags and other essentials that the Turkish community had asked for in a record time. Prothoma’s POWER VOLUNTEERS collected all the donations and dropped off all the sleeping bags, tents, and gloves to ETAC where they were packed for delivery by Turkish Airlines to the earthquake devastated zones in Turkey.
PROTHOMA is proud to stand together with Bay Area Turkish community.
Prothoma family came together to do all what we could for our brothers and sisters in Turkey, in their time of crisis. Thanks to all who participated to lend their helping hands to make this happen. What a wonderful community we belong too. We as PROTHOMA see our family growing and reaching out to our local communities to provide assistance and support in the time of need.
Long Live Prothoma!!!
Thank you PROTHOMA for standing with the local Turkish community
